The attack is part of an ongoing campaign of aerial bombardment by Russian forces targeting Ukrainian cities. Kyiv has repeatedly been struck by ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and Shahed-type drones throughout the conflict.
Ukrainian air defence forces attempted to intercept incoming projectiles, though some broke through. Ukrainian authorities have urged residents to remain in shelters and follow official safety guidance as further threats are assessed.
