Elon Musk reveals personal reason for entering politics
Elon Musk claims his political shift toward the right began with a conflict involving his transgender daughter. His daughter rejects this explanation and sees different reasons for her father's transformation. What was once Silicon Valley's liberal icon has become one of today's most controversial political figures.
ПолитикаPersonal conflict as political turning point
Elon Musk has publicly admitted that his political views received a decisive blow from a family crisis – his daughter came out as transgender. Musk claims this event fundamentally altered his worldview and ultimately led him to take an active political role, including supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
His daughter, however, disputes this interpretation. She says her father's explanation is misleading and that the real reasons behind his shift in worldview are far more complex and cannot be reduced solely to a family dispute. She has publicly distanced herself from her father for some time.
From liberal icon to right-wing movement spokesperson
Just a few years ago, Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, was considered more of a proponent of progressive values in Silicon Valley. His social media presence was often science-supporting and reflected climate-conscious attitudes. He then purchased the platform Twitter, renamed it X, and began increasingly vigorously promoting right-wing positions.
Musk's political activism culminated in financing and publicly supporting Trump's campaign, and later securing a position in Trump's administration leading the Department of Government Efficiency advisory council, known by the acronym DOGE. Critics have questioned whether this represents genuine conviction or strategic business calculation.
The question remains open
Regardless of his true motives, Musk's journey to a position of political influence is one of the most remarkable phenomena in contemporary Western politics. His case raises broader questions about how personal experiences – whether family conflicts, business interests, or ideological convictions – shape the political choices of the world's richest and most powerful people.
