ЭстонияThe Environmental Board has begun trawling operations on Lake Peipus to remove old and abandoned fishing nets from the lake bed. This is a regular cleanup operation carried out annually.
This week, trawling work will take place on 3 and 4 June, and next week operations will continue on 9 and 10 June. Abandoned nets pose a risk to both aquatic wildlife and fisheries, as fish and other aquatic animals can become trapped in them.
