Estonian athlete Brigita Anton hospitalised with kidney infection mid-training
Estonian public figure Brigita Anton was unexpectedly hospitalised after being struck by severe pain during a routine training session. She was diagnosed with pyelonephritis (kidney pelvis inflammation). Anton described the pain as so intense she could barely stand.
КультураEstonian athlete and media personality Brigita Anton recently found herself rushed to hospital after a sudden and severe medical episode interrupted what had started as an ordinary training day.
Anton was diagnosed with pyelonephritis — an infection of the kidney pelvis — after the pain struck without warning. «Once it seemed to ease up a little, but then a wave of pain hit again so hard that my legs gave way. It was impossible to take a step,» Anton recalled of the experience.
The intensity of the symptoms left her unable to continue her workout, and she was taken to hospital for treatment. Anton described the ordeal as one where her body simply gave out on her at an unexpected moment.
Anton has since shared her experience publicly, drawing attention to how quickly such an infection can escalate and how it can affect even physically active individuals. Pyelonephritis is a bacterial kidney infection that can cause intense back and side pain, fever, and general weakness, and often requires prompt medical attention and antibiotics.
