Estonian Dance Council: Changes to private theatre subsidies deepen inequality
The Estonian Dance Council warns that planned changes to private theatre operating subsidies regulations will increase structural inequality in the dance sector. The organisation believes this threatens the sustainability of dance and the diversity of Estonian performing arts.
КультураThe Estonian Dance Council has expressed concern about planned changes to private theatre operating subsidies regulations. According to the Council, the proposed amendments as currently drafted will deepen structural inequality in the dance sector and threaten the broader diversity of Estonian performing arts.
The Dance Council warns that the proposed changes do not adequately account for the specific characteristics of the dance sector and may result in dance being placed at a disadvantage compared to other performing arts. The organisation emphasises that cultural policy should address the needs of all performing arts sectors equally.
The Council calls on the Ministry of Culture to reconsider the planned changes in order to ensure equal development opportunities for the dance sector and to preserve the broad and diverse landscape of Estonian performing arts.
