Estonian food blogger Kadri Raig, the author behind the popular recipe site kahvliga.ee, has published a new recipe for creamy strawberry-rhubarb squares that she promises will vanish from the table almost instantly.

«Sometimes you just need something sweet in your life. And sometimes you need to use up ingredients at home that have started to look a little tired,» Raig writes, explaining the inspiration behind the recipe. The dessert squares combine the classic summer pairing of strawberries and rhubarb with a rich, creamy filling.

Raig acknowledges that the hardest part of making the squares may actually be waiting for them to cool down before eating. Ideally, she says, the cake should be allowed to cool completely before serving — but she also understands that few people have the patience for that.
