Estonian young sailors finish silver fleet at World Championships in Quiberon

Estonian young sailors competing in the 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 World Championships in Quiberon, France, and the iQFOiL European Championships in Portugal fell short of expectations. Estonian young elite sailors competed last week at two major title events, with the iQFOiL class European Championships held in Portugal and the 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 class World Championships taking place in Quiberon, France. All athletes representing Estonia are part of the Estonian Sailing Union's Los Angeles 2028 Olympic development program, known as 'Young Talents to the Olympics'.

Despite the athletes' ambitions and the program's long-term Olympic goals, the results at both regattas fell below expectations. The Estonian sailors finished in the silver fleet — the second-tier classification group — at the World Championships, indicating they were unable to break into the elite gold fleet competition.
