Henrik, the son of renowned musicians Reet and Erich Krieger, has decided to speak publicly about his experience living with bipolar disorder. In Estonia, discussions about mental health often remain a taboo subject, but Henrik believes it is essential to speak openly about it.

Henrik describes how the condition divides his life into two parts. "I have creative surges where I can push myself to the limit, but in the downward periods I pay the price. I reach dangerously low points," he explains, describing the nature of bipolar disorder.

Bipolar disorder means alternating high and low periods that can significantly affect a person's life. During high periods, a person feels full of energy and creativity, while low periods can be dangerously difficult.

Henrik emphasises that to cope with the condition, it is important to accept it. "You have to come to terms with it and simply adapt to it," he says, sharing his personal experience in the hope that it will help others in similar situations feel less alone.

Public discussion of mental health issues helps expand public awareness and reduce the stigma that often accompanies bipolar disorder.
