Journalist: Oliver Solberg should be moved to Toyota's young drivers' team
Oliver Solberg had another crash at the World Rally Championship event in Japan, which ruined his result. Finnish rally journalist Ville Hirvonen suggests that Toyota should demote Solberg to its young drivers' team, where Sami Pajari currently competes.
СпортOliver Solberg's season in the WRC continues to be fraught with difficulties — on Saturday at the World Rally Championship event in Japan, he drove off the road and hit a post. Although he managed to score ten points on Sunday, he has crashed in three of his last four rallies.
Finnish rally journalist Ville Hirvonen believes something needs to change. In his view, Toyota could consider demoting Solberg to the young drivers' team, where Finnish driver Sami Pajari currently competes alone. The aim of such a move would be to give the young Norwegian some breathing room and a chance to restore his sporting confidence.
Solberg has raced for Toyota's main team this season, but the results have been consistently disappointing. Frequent crashes have led experts to question whether this environment suits him at present.
Whether Toyota will decide to make changes remains to be seen, but Hirvonen's suggestion has sparked lively debate in the WRC world.
