Miley Cyrus adopts 20-year-old giant African tortoise from shelter
US singer Miley Cyrus has welcomed a very unusual pet into her family — a giant African spurred tortoise named Teru, approximately 20 years old. The enormous reptile was rescued from an animal shelter.

African spurred tortoises, also known as sulcata tortoises, are the third largest tortoise species in the world and can live for over 100 years. These impressive reptiles are native to the Sahara Desert's southern edge and can weigh well over 100 kilograms when fully grown.
Cyrus rescued Teru from an animal shelter, giving the elderly tortoise a loving new home. The singer is known for her deep affection for animals and has previously spoken publicly about her commitment to animal welfare.
