At a city council session held in Narva on Monday, Katri Raik lost her position as mayor when the council voted to remove her from office. However, Raik does not intend to accept this outcome — on Tuesday morning on Vikerradio's "Vikerhommik" programme, she spoke and confirmed that simply backing down is not an option.

Raik stressed that the current situation is too serious to simply walk away and wash her hands of it. She indicated that she will continue to fight for her position and does not regard her removal as a final decision. In the interview, Raik did not yet reveal the specific steps she intends to take.

Narva municipal politics have been turbulent in recent months, and the mayor's removal by the council is a sign of escalating tensions in the city's governance. Katri Raik is one of Narva's most prominent politicians, who has repeatedly faced opposition both within the local council and in the broader public sphere.
