As part of the NATO air defence mission in the Baltic states, allied aircraft crews based in the region are conducting training flights in Estonian airspace this week, including low-level passes.

The exercises are part of regular NATO air defence activities aimed at maintaining allied readiness and operational capability in the Baltic region. NATO member states' rotating air units provide air defence for the Baltic states, as Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania do not have their own military aircraft.

Low-level flights may cause unusually loud noise for residents living near flight paths. The public is normally notified in advance of such exercises to avoid unnecessary disruption.
