ЭстонияConstruction of a new apartment building is underway in Tartu's Taga-Karlovas, at the corner of Turu and Saekoja streets. Dorpat Ehitus began work last autumn, and by now the exterior of the future three-storey building has become clearly visible.
However, construction work has had to contend with a special challenge – groundwater. Water has been a problem in the area, and pedestrians near the construction site have noticed damp ground underfoot. Managing the groundwater has been part of the construction process before proceeding with the main structural work.
The apartment building will be added to Karlovas, one of Tartu's most popular and densely populated neighbourhoods. The new building will provide additional living space to the area and fits well in terms of scale with the existing surroundings.
