Raasiku family loses home, cars and animals in devastating fire
A fire that began in a shed in Raasiku municipality spread rapidly in the wind, destroying a family's home, outbuildings, vehicles and irreplaceable memories. The blaze consumed the owner's childhood home along with everything inside. Emergency services received the alert approximately one week ago.
ЭстонияA family in Raasiku municipality, Harju County, has been left with nothing after a fire that started in a shed tore through their property last week, destroying a childhood home, several outbuildings, multiple vehicles and the family's animals.
The emergency centre received the alarm reporting an open-flame fire in the shed in Raasiku parish. Strong winds quickly carried the blaze from the outbuilding to the main residential structure, which happened to be the property owner's childhood home — a place filled with decades of personal history and irreplaceable keepsakes.
By the time firefighters brought the fire under control, the family had lost virtually everything on the property. Vehicles parked nearby were also gutted by the flames, and animals kept on the premises did not survive. Authorities have been investigating the cause of the fire.
The family now faces the enormous task of rebuilding their lives from scratch. Community members in the Raasiku area have been urged to offer support, as the losses extend far beyond material possessions — photographs, heirlooms and other personal items accumulated over a lifetime were destroyed in the blaze.
