КультураSeven years ago, on 21 May, Estonian actor and journalist Jüri Aarma left this world – a man whom many knew both from the stage and from the television screen. His brother August Aarma has carried with him for years the memory of a special conversation that took place just a year and a half before the tragic event.
August Aarma recalls meeting Jüri by chance near Musumäe. Usually he saw his brother speeding past on a moped, hair flying in the wind, rushing from one place to another. This time, however, Jüri was on foot. "Jürka said he had some time, that we should sit down and talk," August has recalled. The two brothers walked up to Musumäe and sat on a bench.
It was there that Jüri Aarma said something to his brother that has stayed with August: "I know how I won't die." This strange and thought-provoking remark has become even more painful in hindsight, knowing what was to follow.
Jüri Aarma was known for his brilliant personality and versatility – he worked both as an actor and as a journalist, and left an indelible mark on Estonia's cultural landscape. His sudden death shocked many who knew him or valued his work.
Years later, those close to him and his fans carry his memory forward, recalling both his creative legacy and the personal moments that made him unique.
