The Estonian Supreme Court on Friday found Meelis Eskola, known professionally as DJ Cityflash, guilty of rape, determining that the appeals court had misassessed the evidence. The court reinstated the three-year prison sentence and ordered him to pay 7,000 in compensation to the victim.

The Supreme Court's ruling quashed the previous decision of the appeals court, which had rejected the guilty verdict. The highest court found that the lower court erred in its analysis of the evidence and failed to give sufficient weight to the credibility of the victim's testimony.

However, one important question remains unresolved: the court must reconsider whether Eskola will serve the three-year prison sentence in full or whether it can be suspended. This aspect of the case will be returned to the lower court.

Meelis Eskola is a well-known DJ and musician in Estonia who performs under the stage name Cityflash. The criminal case has attracted widespread public attention both for the course of the trial and the complexity of the evidence assessment.
