Tallinn's Song Festival Ground disc golf event faces same star power problem as Rally Estonia

Since 2023, disc golfers have gathered at Tallinn's Song Festival Ground for one of the sport's most distinctive competitions. However, the European Disc Golf Festival now shares a key problem with Rally Estonia — its biggest star has stepped away from competition.

Since 2023, the Tallinn Song Festival Ground has transformed into one of disc golf's most unique competitive venues, hosting the European Disc Golf Festival each year for a week of high-level play in a culturally iconic setting. The tournament has carved out a distinct identity in the disc golf calendar, drawing international competitors to Estonia's capital.

However, the festival now faces a challenge familiar to Estonian motorsport fans. Much like Rally Estonia, which has struggled with the absence of its brightest name on the WRC calendar, the European Disc Golf Festival finds itself without its most recognisable star, who has put their career on pause.

The parallel between the two events highlights a broader issue in niche sports — when a single dominant figure defines a competition's appeal, their absence can cast a long shadow over future editions, regardless of the overall quality of the field.
