Tartu Anne Canal is beginning summer in an unusual way – the opening of swimming season has been accompanied by a significant algae bloom that covers the water's surface. Lifeguards have begun actively managing the situation and are continuously clearing the algae.

Despite the green water colour, there is no cause for concern. Water analyses conducted by the Health Board clearly show that the algae pose no health risk to swimmers and the water meets bathing water standards.
