The University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden, together with the young literature journal Värske Rõhk, held the Linnujämmi poetry competition for the second consecutive time in May. In this year's competition, authors were invited to write about five specific bird species: the eurasian tree sparrow, wryneck, nightingale, corn crake or jay.

The results of the competition were announced on 3 June at a nature poetry evening held at the University of Tartu Botanical Garden, where people interested in nature and poetry gathered. The award ceremony brought together both literature enthusiasts and nature lovers.

What was particularly notable was that the first and second place in the competition were shared — the jury could not discern a clear difference between the two best poems. The Linnujämmi competition has become a distinctive tradition in a short time, combining nature education and literary creativity.
