Theatre Director Ringo Ramul: 16 Productions and Unwavering Faith in Making Theatre

32-year-old theatre director Ringo Ramul has brought 16 productions to the stages of various theatres and received seven awards as both an actor and director. Nine years after graduating from the Viljandi Culture Academy, Ramul says he knew from childhood that he would make it to the theatre.

Theatre director Ringo Ramul (32) recalls that he had a firm conviction as a child that the theatre world was meant for him. "I always had this dream of wanting to make it to the theatre. Fortunately, I did, and I'm here now," says Ramul, whose self-belief never wavered even when the path seemed long.

Nine years ago, Ramul graduated from the Viljandi Culture Academy and has since worked at various theatres across Estonia. As a result of his creative work, 16 productions have reached the stage, demonstrating his versatility both as an actor and as a director. In total, he has received seven different awards during this time.

According to Ramul, theatre is by nature a collaborative art form. "We are made in such a way that we need each other," he says, referring to why directing appeals to him so deeply—the opportunity to create something together that would be impossible to achieve alone.
