Two well-known folk weather forecasters – Arvo Saidla from Raplamaa and Jaan Kalda from Pärnumaa – have made their summer weather predictions, and both have good news for those planning a holiday in July.

The long-time friends are of one mind that summer will be long. As far as July is concerned, in their view conditions will be favourable for holiday-makers, meaning warm and largely dry weather.

However, regarding Midsummer's Day, Saidla and Kalda are somewhat hesitant. Both men do not rule out that on 23 June the sky may begin to drizzle, which means those planning to light bonfires and use grills should keep spare clothing at hand.

Folk weather wisdom and local observational experience form the basis on which Arvo Saidla and Jaan Kalda make their long-range forecasts. Their predictions are grounded in monitoring nature's signs and decades of experience.
