Finnish heptathlete Saga Vanninen failed to show her best form on the opening day of the competition in Götzis. After the first competition day, she sits in 15th place in the women's heptathlon standings, trailing her personal record trajectory by 200 points.

Vanninen's coach, Estonian legendary heptathlete and 2000 Sydney Olympic gold medallist Erki Nool, remains optimistic. According to him, the athlete has demonstrated a significantly higher average level in training than she did on today's competition day.

The Götzis heptathlon competition is one of the most prestigious events in its category in Europe and often serves as the first serious test of the season. Vanninen is expected to deliver much better results as the season progresses, although the opening day left something to be desired.
