Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider Jonas Vingegaard won the penultimate stage of Italy's cycling tour on Saturday, which ran 200 kilometres from Gemona di Friuli to Piancavallo. The Danish cyclist has now essentially secured this year's Giro d'Italia overall victory, which will be officially confirmed on Sunday.

With victory in the penultimate stage, Vingegaard demonstrated that his condition is clearly superior to his main rivals. The triumph at the Piancavallo finish line confirmed his leading position and made the overall victory unquestionable ahead of the final stage of the three-week event.

The final stage of the Giro d'Italia takes place on Sunday, where Vingegaard will be able to confirm the title with a victory. It is an exceptionally successful season for the Danish cyclist, in which he has demonstrated top-level competitive performance across multiple Grand Tours.
