EestiUkrainian President [Volodymyr Zelensky](/politicians/volodymyr-zelensky) has awarded Tallinn the honorary title of «City of Rescuers», recognising Estonia's capital for its support of Ukraine during the ongoing war. Tallinn joins a select group of cities receiving this distinction.
Three other cities were awarded the same status alongside Tallinn: Budapest in Hungary, Gdańsk in Poland, and Saint-Germain-en-Laye in France. The award reflects the significant roles these cities have played in supporting Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Estonia has been one of Ukraine's most steadfast supporters relative to its size, consistently providing military, humanitarian, and financial aid. Tallinn has also welcomed a significant number of Ukrainian refugees and has hosted numerous diplomatic and solidarity events in support of Ukraine.
